Coopers Carbonation Drops - FAQ
Are they suitable for all beer styles and how many do I use for UK style bottles?

Carbonation Drops can be used in any style of beer, lager stout or cider. Although the dosage is based on the Australian sized 375 or 750ml bottles, you can use them in any size bottle. If using a 1L Bottle we would suggest using 2 per bottle. If using a 500ml Bottle we would suggest using 1 per bottle for bitter and 2 per bottle for lager and cider.

This is a group of traditional and very popular English aroma hops grown prior to 1790. Widely cultivated also in the U.S.A. C They are called East Kent Goldings if grown in East Kent, Kent Goldings if grown in mid-Kent, and Goldings if grown elsewhere in the U.K. There are many different named cultivars such as Amon's Early Bird, Cobbs, Bramling,Canterbury, Petham Rodmersham and in Worcestershire - Mathon. They tend to have a smooth, sweet flavour. Most types of Goldings will work in place of another (Whitbread Golding Variety for East Kent Goldings, e.g.). Fuggles Hops - Typical AA 4.2%

A classic British ale hop with great flavour and aroma traditionally for dark ales but also good in golden ales

This variety was noticed growing "wild" in the hop garden of George Stace's house at Horsmonden in Kent. England in 1861. In 1875 it was introduced by Richard Fuggle who lived in the village of Brenchley (not far from Horsmonden) and hence it was called Fuggle. The aroma is Earthier and less sweet than Kent Goldings. Substitutes: Willamette.

About Muntons Gold – Continental Pilsner
Continental Pilsner embodies the full character of European lager style beers – light and delicate, yet richly satisfying. This beer preserves the delicate balance of natural hop bitterness with the sweetness of malt and is best served cold at about 5C or 41F

Home Brew Concentrate Refill– Makes 40 Pints

Many years ago – centuries in fact – it was discovered that the way to brew the best ales and beers was to use only malt, hops, water and yeast in the brewing process. In the 15th Century in Germany this was taken a stage further with the introduction of the “Reinheitsgebot” – a law prohibiting the use of any ingredients in the brewing process other than these raw materials.

This law stood until only a few years ago when the EEC over-ruled the “Reinheitsgebot” which they considered to be a barrier to free-trade within Europe! In spite of this the breweries have refused to change their recipes and still brew using only the four magic ingredients – their customers would not be satisfied with anything less, they tell us.

Traditional English ales were brewed originally without hops but tastes change once hops from the Continent were introduced keeping the ale fresh for longer. Beer drinkers gradually developed a taste for the new “hopped ales” and in the 15th Century the modern tasting English ale was borne. More recently, economic pressure has forced many breweries to introduce cheaper adjuncts into the brewing process. Purists will argue however that the beer quality has suffered because of this and that it is far better to stick to the traditional practices. We at Muntons agree, which is why the Gold Range was developed, a range designed simply to make great beer.

As a commercial malster supplying breweries all over the world, we are in an ideal position to appreciate the quality and styles of malt needed to make the best beers. We have put our knowledge to good use and formulated what we believe to be the best beer kits available anywhere today – with a possible exception of Muntons Premium Gold! Made using only malt, hops, water and yeast, balanced to brew superb beers, modelled on the finest tradition of brewers art.

In keeping with our Gold standard, by using the easy to follow brewing instructions, you will brew beers of the very highest quality – a quality which complies with the 15th Century German purity law – the “Reinheitsgebot”. Cheers!

Good tasty brew. I added some dry hops to get a bit more bitterness. Easy to brew.

4 Continental Pilsner

Bottled it 23 Nov 2011. It says to wait 3-4 weeks, but it has taken much longer to mature. It is now March 2012 and it is tasting much better, so you probably have to be very patient with this kind of brew. It is a strong, pure lager.
