Good barrel, bad seal

As with the other buyers I have had trouble with the gas seal in the cap. The seller supplied me with a pack of new seals which I have tried - with limited success. Replacing the little seal on the stem inside the barrel stopped the blowback through the steel spindle but I still have gas escaping around the barrel screw thread (I will try Vaseline) and also around the central stainless steel thread. The large nut tightens against a rubber washer but gas still escapes. Pressure is gone within 60 secs. I'd appreciate any guidance please! M HBO Edit - Occasionally there can be issues with barrels, please just email us for advise, we have some suggestions that will usually solve any problem, and help is also here on this feature: https://homebrewonline.vanillacommunity.com/discussion/209/barrel-problems-co2-injector-cap-leaking-tap#latest

King keg

Excellent, but took a few tries to get a good seal, probably experience in using will alleviate that. Otherwise a lot easier than cleaning and sterilizing 40 bottles.

It does the job, once you've sealed the cap.

Read the reviews prior to purchase and they were spot on. It's a good barrel but you'll need to get some vaseline around the inside of the top cap to seal it properly. Could'nt initially work out why a bottom tap barrel wouldnt release the beer, then realised there was no pressure in side. Applied the vaseline to the inside of the cap and thread neck of the barrel, replaced the cap nice and tight inserted a Co2 bulb and hey presto out the beer flowed. Would recommend.

Much sturdier than the no brand barrel

I was really struggling to clean the own brand barrel due to the narrow opening, this is a massive improvement, I had a problem with a leaky tap when first used. Home Brew Online provided me with useful advice and when we identified it was a flaw with the tap they replaced it within 24 hours. Excellent! I'll likely get another of these in the future.

King Keg Barrel

Solid product but not easy to get a good seal with the big screw top. Need to use a lubricant.

Poor tap

Got this barrel to ease bottling times. While the barrel itself is very good I find the supplied tap to be very difficult to operate and would expect a better one especially as the whole thing cost £50. Think I will try a different tap than the twist style on my next batch... Fingers crossed.

Great bit of kit

Done a couple of brews without any leaks or problems. Keeps beer about 5 weeks or so (well, I've drunk the lot in about 4 weeks with no off tastes etc) Don't forget to coat the cap threads with Vaseline to ensure a tight seal.

King Keg Bottom Tap

The king keg is superb. It works well and has an over pressure release valve. The tap is rounded and a little difficult to control when under pressure. I did have a problem with the seals on the CO2 injector but after adjusting the rubber seals it works fine - Recommended

King Keg

Strong, with sensible carry handles, and nice large access for cleaning.

It truly is the king of kegs

Very much recommended. These are the apparently the best plastic kegs on the market and I could eaasily believe it. Very solid build - holds the pressure just fine without changing shape at all. Has the capability for injecting gas. The hole at the top is large enough to reach into for cleaning. I've heard of complaints about the taps but I'd ignore them. It's worked fine for me so far! Just remember to lubricate the o-ring to keep it airtight! Also remember to make sure the tap is shut when you're filling it up... ooops!
