This organic kombucha starter kit contains equipment and organic ingredients to make 5 litres of kombucha (you'll also need a few kitchen utensils, see below).
Why make Kombucha?
Brewing your own Kombucha, also known as the “elixir of life” in Japan, has many positives for your health as well your pocket.
The core ingredient of Kombucha, the scoby, is a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. This culture is probiotic so promotes healthy microorganisms, which can help with gut health, digestion, detoxing and many other healthy benefits.
Every time you make a brew, the scoby will double in size, this means you'll always have some for your next batch, plus some leftover to share with friends.
You can personalise your kombucha by adding fruit and spices, and you can also carbonate your brew. This makes home brew kombucha a bespoke, cost effective and healthy alternative to mainstream fizzy drinks. It can also be used as an exciting mixer with spirits and goes great with Gin. Share your creations with us by tagging us in @homebrewonline on Facebook and Twitter.
In addition, you will also need a saucepan, a sieve to strain out the tea, a funnel and some empty bottles. Glass swing top bottles are ideal, or try PET swing top bottles for a cheaper alternative.
